Our History

In the 1960's our father worked as a professional painter in Dayton, Ohio. He has taught us all aspects of the trade. Today our reputation takes us to communities in and around the greater Dayton area.

We are a locally owned company here in the Miami Valley. We are personally invested in completing your job professionally, and on time. Why? Because we live here and work here; and, we believe you should get what you pay for. 

Scope of Work

We will thoroughly prepare each new or existing surface as needed by scraping, power-washing, etching or sandblasting. We will prime and apply each protective coating according to its use and exposure to weather conditions. We can work with your interior designer or Sherwin William’s color consultants to give your place the right feel and fit. We also feature low-voc paints for health-care settings and for our customers with allergy sensitivities.

Therefore, we will schedule our painters to not disrupt your flow of business; we will do everything possible to maintain your "business as usual" hours.

When people first walk into your church the paint job and color scheme should serve to elevate their hearts and minds to God. We are very sensitive to people’s need for prayer. We will work around your schedule of events so that your worship may continue uninterrupted. ​

When teachers and students are learning the last thing they should notice is the paint job. Educators and scholars should not be distracted by dingy walls, peeling paint or distracting colors. Your choice of colors should serve as an enlightening backdrop to the noble goals of education.

Of all that you own, your house may easily be the most significant of all your possessions. Why? Your home holds the people you love. A fresh coat of paint will not only preserve the exterior, but also make the interior warm and inviting. 

Why the name American Painters?

The company ownership has participated in many dozens of mission trips to Africa, Central America, rural Appalachia, and local projects for Habitat for Humanity. We are convinced of the dignity of each person in every culture.  Every culture, including the US, has its unique challenges; nonetheless, when returning from a mission trip we often find ourselves saying, “thank God I am an American.” We consider it an honor to make every home and business in our country beautiful, hence the name American Painters. The Christian humanism that runs through our company extends to each employee and customer; we simply treat others the way we would like to be treated. 

Oops! When accidents happen...

The use of ladders for houses and ten-ton lifts for church steeples is inherently dangerous. Our liability coverage is underwritten by Ohio Mutual Insurance to cover any unforeseen accidents or events. We carry a million dollar per incident business policy.  AMERICAN PAINTERS LLC, entity number 4384625, is registered with the Secretary of State and is officially certified to do business in Ohio.
